Damage Penalty is a state your vehicle is in when it is heavily damaged during the events in game that it can no longer be driven again and automatically terminates the race. In Cruise and Circuit Races, it take five seconds for the vehicle to repair itself fully in brand new shape so it can be driven again to continue the race. In Dashboard view, there is a damage meter on the gauge cluster so it can be viewed to show how much damage your vehicle has taken. There is a red light on the Heads-Up Display that flashes when your vehicle is in critical condition that one more more hit will drive it out of the race.
