Routemaster RT191

The Regent RT 191 in Classic Madness

The AEC Regent RT 191 is a bus included in HQTM Team's Classic Madness mod. It replaces the standard Double-Decker Bus and the more modern double-decker bus traffic vehicles in London, with their often-overlooked ancestor. Notably, the Regent is incorrectly named as the "Routemaster RT 191," however the Routemaster name only refers to the vehicle which replaced the Regent in 1954, and appears as the Double-Decker Bus in unmodified versions of Midtown Madness 2. Also, the "191" number refers to the code for a single vehicle, rather than an entire model line.

Two real AEC Regent III RTs

The AEC Regent III RT started life as a pre-war prototype in 1938, designed as affordable public transport for the whole of London. However, when war broke out in 1939, production was postponed and the first batch didn't make it onto the streets until 1942. Production reccommenced in 1946 when London Transport increased orders to over a thousand units. Production ended in 1951, to be replaced by the AEC Routemaster in 1954. Despite this, some Regent busses remained in service as late as 1979, while three were combined to become the "Knight Bus" in Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban.
